Future-Borne Legacy

A Future-borne Legacy of Care: Homme Inc. of Wisconsin

The enduring legacy of Homme Inc. of Wisconsin began with the remarkable foresight of Reverend E.J. Homme, his wife Ingeborg, and their dedicated, community supporters. Together in 1882, they established charitable social services to meet the immediate housing and supportive needs of senior adults. The seeds of Homme Inc. of Wisconsin’s “now” were sown by their “then.”

Homme Inc. of Wisconsin operates two distinct campuses: Homme Home for the Aging in Wittenberg and Homme Heights in Wausau. Both locations boast a rich history of providing compassionate care and strong connections to the communities they serve.

Homme Home for the Aging: A Century and a Half of Service

With roots tracing back to 1882, Homme Home for the Aging in Wittenberg stands as one of Wisconsin’s oldest, if not the oldest, providers of elder care services. The ministry of Rev. E.J. and Ingeborg Homme began with a spirit of hope and fearlessness, consistently serving elders since its inception.

Homme Heights: Comprehensive Senior Care in Wausau

Located at 2901 N. 7th Street, Homme Heights in Wausau also carries a legacy of service dating back to the 1880s. What began as a ticket hospital for loggers evolved into the charitable work of St. Mary’s Hospital from 1907 to 1970, then Wausau Hospital North, and finally Homme Heights in 1989. This campus now offers a comprehensive range of housing and senior services.

Then. Now. And Tomorrow

When combined with Homme Home’s own history, you have over 280 years of charitable service coursing through Homme Home’s mission. Homme Home’s mission, strongly rooted through charity and empathy for senior adults in need has positively impacted – will positively impact — thousands of lives in the greater Wausau and Wittenberg areas.
