Over 140 years ago, in the wilderness of Wisconsin, the seeds of today’s Homme Home of Wittenberg were sown by Reverend Evan Johnson (EJ) Homme. Commissioned by the Lutheran Church in America, this home for the aged was supported by donations, grants and gifts that resulted in bringing together dedicated individuals through various financial ventures to support Homme Home. This rich history is a testament to the enduring spirit of community and charity that continues to drive us today.

Laborers and Homme staff of yesteryear worked to support the home for the aging through a sawmill, a farm, multiple newspapers, and schools.  The focus on building a charitable social service organization in the woods led to the development of a larger community known as Wittenberg, Wisconsin. A community that has long served the heart of central Wisconsin through Homme Home services.  It is incredible to think about what coming together in fellowship can build and achieve

The Homme Home Foundation, born out of same mission to serve the community, has harnessed the energy, toil, and efforts of yesteryear into today’s Homme, which, like then, continues to need community support to sustain long-term financial stability and service to our seniors.

Homme Home of Wittenberg and Homme Heights Inc (Wausau branch). are private, non-profit organizations, founded to provide essential social services to seniors and families in need and served by the Homme Home Foundation.

The dedicated staff of Homme Home, guided by the spirit of Christian love, compassion, and justice, work tirelessly to ensure that no senior, whether indigent or simply outliving retirement savings, is turned away. The need for housing and supportive services for older Americans continues to grow, making your support more crucial than ever.

Every dollar generated by Homme is put back into operations. Your donations, grants and gifts will be used to support services and programs while pivoting those services and programs to the future by updating technological and physical infrastructure.
